THE MILL VALLEY HISTORICAL SOCIETY PRESENTS By the Light of Burning Dreams with David Talbot and Margaret Talbot Wednesday, August 4th | 7:00pm. The first American Revolution was fought to secure representation and freedom from an unwanted empire, a monarchy stretching its tentacles across the ocean. But that revolution didn’t win rights for everyone. That would take a series of smaller but nonetheless crucial movements, including the series of uprisings that unfolded in the 1960s and 1970s. These movements are at the heart of By the Light of Burning Dreams: The Triumphs and Tragedies of the Second American Revolution, written by siblings and co-authors David and Margaret Talbot. Join us for an evening with the authors as they discuss their immersive and compelling new book. DAVID TALBOT is the author of several New York Times bestsellers, including Season of the Witch. He founded the online magazine Salon and was a senior editor of Mother Jones and a columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle. MARGARET TALBOT has been a staff writer at the New Yorker since 2004. Her writing has appeared in various outlets, including the Atlantic and the New York Times Book Review. She is the author of The Entertainer: Movies, Magic, and My Father’s Twentieth Century. |
